Philippine Airlines selects Aeroplay Entertainment for Wireless-IFE trial.

Philippine Airlines (PAL), the flag carrier of the Philippines, has selected Aeroplay Entertainment to run a trial of AeroHub, a Wireless Inflight Entertainment solution on PAL international flights.

PAL is intent on enhancing passenger travel experience by offering onboard Wireless-IFE that addresses safety norms and aligns with the rise of BYOD (Bring your Own Device) in the air travel industry. Starting this month, for a 3 months period, Aeroplay Entertainment will be deploying AeroHub across PAL’s Airbus A330, A350 and Boeing 777 fleet operating its regional and long-haul routes.

AeroHub is a fully FAA-certified solution and is approved by major Hollywood studios. Its Motion Pictures of America certified lab facility in Mumbai provides the highest level of security required to keep all data protected and private for its clients and partners (studios and distributors). AeroHub’s powerful data analytics module will also enable PAL to gather invaluable insights on passenger preferences and customer trends. In addition, the system’s dedicated airline portal supporting OTA Cloud synchronization is intended to further improve crew and engineering activities.

Content is King, but Context is Gold. In this post Covid world, Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) remain essential in ensuring a safe, contactless journey from airport check-in to arrival. Offering passengers inflight entertainment at their fingertips through use of their own devices gives them better control of their entertainment needs in accordance with their tastes and interests.

The solution, which consists of AeroHub hardware, specially curated content, and separate interfaces for passengers, crew and maintenance teams, will offer PAL’s passengers a rich and high-quality inflight entertainment experience directly to their own personal electronic devices (PEDs) via an app-less browser interface.
